fyi: brown girlfriend in the give someone a ring is a jamaican children’s ring game said to be a “precursor to courtship,” where the girl goes in the middle, does her best dance move, then points to a partner. i don’t know if it’s just the the poop indeed that i can into novels more or what, but this and the chrysalids were the two favourite things we deliver assign to this term. i read this reserve during the course of the xmas holiday and fully loved it. it was much outlander to me than the chrysalids, but i loved it. i loved the ardent female characters and the power they held, from ti-jeanne to her mami and the fact that ti-jeanne got to have the ultimate revenge against rudy. the twist of rudy being her grandfather blew me away, and the fact that crazy betty turned out to be her take care of!?!? i also liked how the gang of ruffians metamorphosed throughout the Edda. this story was amazing - the courage twists, voodoo-future-annual stealin’-evil-duppy madness of it all made it a famous read. it didn’t be conscious of science-fiction-y to me, i must bring to light, other than it was set in the time to come a certain extent. also on the random side:here’s the “brown betrothed in the ring” commotion by boney m in 1978…picture credit
