[OT] CN’s “FusionFall” MMO - manga-fied charas

cartoon network (like every other media owner — name trek(*), stargate, lego) is developing an mmo. or mmog. or mmorpg. the concept art on the project’s homepage might fancy some eyebrows ’round here: notice specifically the t(w)een(?) versions of bubbles/blue and blossom/red at the top, and of dexter at the lower right. (of course, in-game characters never look mould concept art; not since the 1980s, and not with today’s poly limits.) the character art struck me as similar to that of — what’s it called? that large-format webcomic that mushes together “dexter,” “my viability as a teenage robot,” “powerpuff girls,” and “invader zim” — aha, bleedman’s powerpuff girls doujinshi, thank you, google groups. as discussed here on :raam back in 2005. presumably the plot will register only characters from cartoon network studios, so you won’t get to play as a transformer minicon, a colleague of mystery, inc., — but (judging from the concept art) you will be off “ben 10,” “dexter’s laboratory,” “ed, edd n eddy,” “evil con carne,” “foster’s home for imaginary friends,” “kids next door,” “powerpuff girls,” and “samurai jack.” cn-coproduced versions of “star wars clone wars” and “transformers animated” are probably out. it looks like the power of the omnitrix will be applied to jumpsuits and weapons. and screenshots express it may be doable to create an avatar that’s either normal-sized or a tiny flying chibi understanding, sometimes both onscreen at once. oh look — there’s megas, covered in green slime. (digs into the news coverage…) the developer is grigon pastime of south korea, and the aim audience is ages 8-14. the rendering latest thing is cell-shaded anime-ish. the cn characters are npcs. aha — the chibis are “nanos,” there are 36 to collect, and you can equip yourself with up to three at a time.
