CurbedWire: Massive Crane Collapse at 303 East 51st

A large crane cleaved away from a tower under construction at 303 East 51st Street this afternoon, crashing down on buildings blocks away and totally demolishing a townhouse holding the bar Fubar at 305 East 50th Street. Numerous reports from the neighborhood cite a construction site being run with obvious deficiencies; the crane fell in an apparent attempt to rise it up to add floors to what was to have been a 40-story development, 19 of which had been completed.
